Day bay day we are getting closer to the Meeting Villa de Madrid. Gallur’s track will get dressed up on February 21st to welcome the best athletes in the world in the World Indoor Tour 2020 Final. Few days ago we announced that the world champion Yulimar Rojas and the European champion Ana Peleteiro will compete that afternoon in Madrid and today we can reveal another name: Juan Miguel Echevarría

The long jump will have this outstanding athlete in competition. The 21 year old Cuban is the current world indoor champion (Birmingham 2018) and got bronze in the last World Championship held in Doha few months ago. He has great performances although his short age. In 2017 he flew over 6,28 in Moratalaz (Madrid) with only 18 years old and since then he has finished every season over eight and a half meters. Last March 10thhe surprised the athletics world jumping 8,92 in La Habana. A pity the +3.3 of illegal wind, but this showed what he is able to do in athletics.

Echevarría has a personal best of 8,68 and threats seriously the Cuban record that has Iván Pedroso with 8,71 since 1995. His presence will be another great incentive for fans o visit the track. The long jump World Ranking leader with 1451 points wil also be a name to keep in mind for the Olympic Games Tokio 2020.
