Jordan Díaz, the Spanish triple jump record holder with a personal best of 17.87m, will take on the three reigning world medalists at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold final meeting in Madrid on 23 February.

World triple jump champion Hugues Fabrice Zango, who claimed the global title last summer in Budapest and is the only athlete to have leaped over the 18-meter barrier indoors (18.07m), will want to add a third-career victory in Madrid – the Burkinese already won there indoors in 2020 and outdoors in 2021, at the Continental Tour Silver meeting.

Zango will have a tough rival in the reigning world indoor champion and outdoor silver medalist Lázaro Martínez. The 26-year-old Cuban claimed the triumph in Madrid two years ago, just two weeks before winning the global indoor title in Belgrade with a 17.64m personal best.

Complete the strong field the world bronze medalist Cristian Nápoles of Cuba, who finally reached the podium in Budapest after finishing fourth in London 2017 and fifth in Doha 2019.
