World high jump champion Eleanor Patterson of Australia will seek a second triumph in Madrid on 23 February, at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold 2024 final meeting.

Two years ago, Patterson secured her World Indoor Tour title by winning in Madrid with a 1.96m leap.

Just after that victory, the 27-year-old claimed her first global medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championship in Belgrade — a silver. There, Patterson reached the two-meter-barrier for the fist time in her career.

Later in 2022, the Australian became the world high jump champion in Eugene, Oregon, in a lifetime-best competition which resulted in an Oceanian record of 2.02m.

In Madrid, reigning world silver medalist Patterson will clash Finland’s Ella Junnila and Ukraine’s Yuliya Chumachenko, amongst others.
